Samsonite-Hungaria, the Hungarian unit of the American suitcase producer Samsonite, has completed a HUF 765m (€2.4m) investment at its plant in Szekszard (southern Hungary). The company received a HUF 306m (€986,000) grant from the new Szechenyi National Development Programme, Nepszabadsag reports.
Growing global demand for unbreakable suitcases made it necessary for the company to boost capacity. The investment is a part of HUF 1.5bn (€4.8m) expansion in its Hungarian production base. The investment included the construction of a 1,800 m2 production hall, 4,000 m2 warehouse and the modernization of 8,000 m2 of existing production halls and offices.
