Sweets maker Kandia purchased rival Supreme

The sweets manufacturer
Kandia Dulce announced in mid-January 2012 the takeover of its competitor,
Supreme Chocolat. As a result, Kandia Dulce is almost doubling its share of the Romanian chocolate market. Kandia Dulce and Supreme Chocolat commanded 10% and 8% of the chocolate market in Romania in 2011, respectively, according to Nielsen. Mihut Craciun, the general director of Kandia Dulce, will remain the head of the newly-merged company.
Kandia Dulce’s main competitor is
Kraft, the leader on the chocolate market in Romania.
In 2010, Kandia Dulce posted sales revenues of RON 132m (€30.4m)and Supreme Chocolat registered sales revenues of RON 91.9m (€21.2m), according to data from the finance ministry.
