Revenues of shopping centres falling
2009-10-29
The number of visitors to shopping centres has remained stable despite the economic crisis, according to
Hospodarske Noviny, which surveyed several large shopping centres in the country. However, revenues generated by the centres are expected to have plummeted this year due to customers spending much less than they did two years ago.
According to various
shopping centres, in 2009 sales revenues will have declined by 10% to 30%, compared to 2008.
The decline has affected all shopping centres with the exception of those located in
Bratislava, where people spend more and where there is still high demand for retail space, according to information from GfK Slovakia. Western Slovakia, from this point of view, has been less stricken than central or eastern Slovakia, according to research produced by Colliers International.
