Ikea Czech Republic to invest in construction of its largest store in Europe

During the next two years Ikea Czech Republic plans to invest CZK 2.7bn (€104m) in the expansion of its business in the country. This investment includes the construction of the largest Ikea store in Europe, in Zlicin, which will comprise a total area of 41,700 m², and feature a restaurant with seating for 670 people and parking for 1,300 cars.
The head of Ikea Czech Republic, Andrew North, also plans to commence a new marketing campaign in the country. The plan includes special sales events, for example spending the night at an Ikea store in order to promote the sale of bedroom equipment and furniture, reported Mlada Fronta Dnes.
In the company’s last financial year (ending August 2009) Ikea Czech Republic posted of CZK 7.28bn (€277.3m) – a year-on-year increase of up 6.8%. The company also reported net profits of CZK 666m (€25.7m).
