In 2009 the Romanian brown and white goods retailer Domo reported sales of €170m, a year-on-year decline of 17%, and losses of €1.5m. Despite this decline, the retailer expects 2010 to bring sales similar to the 2008 level of €200m.
The results mean that the gap between Domo and the market leader, Altex has narrowed. In 2009 Altex reported a turnover of €180m, down 40% from the previous year. In 2008 sales generated by Altex exceeded those generated by Domo by €140m.
A new Domo store is scheduled to open in March 2010 in the Baneasa shopping centre in Bucharest, thus adding to the total number of 125 Domo stores currently operating in Romania.
Domo Retail, a part of the TechnomarketDomo group, is controlled by the investment fund Equest Investment Balkans, which acquired 75% of the retailer for €75m in 2007.
