Crisis hits Jan Becher-Karlovarska Becherovka

Jan Becher-Karlovarska Becherovka (JBKB), owned by
Pernod Ricard group, reported a net profit of CZK 226.8m in the 2009 financial year ending in June 2009 – down roughly CZK 26m from the previous year. During the period in question, the company’s revenues amounted to CZK 812m, which represents an increase of nearly CZK 65.4m, reported CTK.
In 2009 JBKB produced more than 7.5 million litres of spirit, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%. JBKB's most famous brand, Becherovka, accounted for nearly 80% of this amount.
Last year the company began exporting its goods to several new markets including Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Germany and China. In either May or June 2010 the company will begin pilot operations in Karlovy Vary-Bohatice, where it commenced construction of a production facility in July 2009.
