Slovglass Poltar, the Slovak glass maker, plans to launch two shops in Slovakia this year, one in Bratislava and another in Kosice. The firm aims to generate revenues of €20m in 2010.
Sales started to pick up after February last year and the average monthly turnover for the year was around €1.5m. Slovglass ended 2009 in the black but elected not to reveal the exact figure.
Another goal of Slovglass for this year is to maintain the size of its workforce at around 450 people and maintain, or even increase, sales to foreign markets. In 2009, of all of its exports markets, sales in the United States were most severely affected, while demand from Italy, Germany, Spain, France and Greece remained strong. The company’s sales on the Slovak and Czech markets account for just 10% of its total revenues.
Slovglass acquired the bankrupt Bratislava-based Emel in March 2009.
