Starbucks reveals location of first Hungarian unit
2010-02-15
American Restaurants Holdings (AmRest) has finally revealed the location of the first Starbucks coffee shop in Hungary. It is to be located in the Westend City Center shopping centre, and not, as had been planned earlier, in downtown Budapest, reported Mfor.hu.
Starbucks, represented by over 16,000 coffee houses in 49 countries worldwide, entered the Central-Eastern European region in January 2008 with the opening of a unit in Prague. This was followed shortly afterwards by the opening of a unit in Poland, in April. Today, there are a total of 11 coffee shops in Prague, Warsaw and Wroclaw. Starbucks’ entry onto the Hungarian market had been expected to take place sooner, however, the recession caused these plans to be postponed.
