Hortino, the well-known producer of frozen food, intends to increase its production capacity by up to 4,500 tonnes per year. The company has modernised its old factory in Lezajsk, which will start operating in 2010. The project is thought to be worth PLN 12m (€3m). Approximately 25% of the money comes from EU grants.
In 2009, the producer earned sales revenues of PLN 130m (€32m) and made a net profit of PLN 8m (€2m). In 2010, the results are expected to be similar. In 2011, however, the company should enjoy an increase in revenue and net profit. It plans to increase its sales results by 15% and therefore is looking for the new distribution channels as well as conducts negotiations with several retail chains.
According to Hortino estimates, the company controls 9% of the frozen food market in Poland, whereas Hortex leads the field, with a 49% market share.
