More than 30% of Slovaks likely to save money in 2010
2010-02-17
Every third Slovak inhabitant is likely to save money in 2010, according to a recent consumer survey conducted by GfK. Slovakia ranked third among 14 countries in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of the number of people ready to save money during the next 12 months. Only Austria, Slovenia and Hungary were ranked higher. In the former, 43% of the respondents said that they would focus on saving money in 2010 while in Slovenia and Hungary 38% said so.
The willingness to save is, however, lower than in 2009 when people in the region struggled with the economic downturn.
According to the same study, some 80% of Slovaks use services provided by financial institutions, either mortgages, bank accounts, etc.
