Ambra, the well-known producer and distributor of wine, has acquired a 100% stake in Nalewki i Inne, a retailer of alcoholic beverages which manages nine stores, as Retail Update Poland has learnt. The latter establishments, which are located in the main shopping galleries in the largest cities in Poland, will be incorporated into Ambra’s subsidiary, Centrum Wina chain. According to Robert Ogor, the president of Ambra, the main value of the transation is locations of the acquired units, which fills the gaps in the existing distribution capabilities of Centrum Wina.
After the merger this chain will consist of 25 units. Ambra will also take over the production of Nalewki beverages and will keep the brand name of the Nalewki i Inne products. However, the brand of the Nalewki stores is to be unified with the brand of Centrum Wina chain. Within five years, Ambra intends to be managing 40 stores offering a variety of alcoholic beverages.
For the 2008/2009 financial year, which ended on 30 June 2009, Ambra group reported sales revenues of PLN 429m (€106.8m).
