Improvement on Hungarian dietary supplement market in 2009

Sales of dietary supplements in Hungary increased by 12% in the three quarters between January and September 2009, and by 2% on a year-on-year basis, according to data published by GfK Hungaria.
The pharmacies held the most substantial market share, 62% in terms of sales value, followed by drugstores, with a market share of 21%.
The best-selling product was Vitamin C, but probiotics and antioxidants were also popular. The consumption of vitamins has doubled in Hungary over the last 20 years. Russian, Japanese and Chinese products are available on the domestic vitamin market, along with their American and Western European
counterparts.
