Euronics hopes for growth in H2 2010

Eventhough, the market of consumer electronic suffered a substantial 20% decline in Hungary in 2009, Euronics, the household goods and consumer electronics chain managed to reach similar level of sales in 2009 as in the previous year in the major household appliances segment. What is more, in some categories like for example in the panel and LED TV segment, the company managed to improve its market share to 30%, and it also strengthened its leading position in the white goods segment.
The managing director of Euronics, Mr. Rohrbock, expects an upward trend already in the second half of 2010. Moreover, he hopes for the football World Cup this year to bring improvements in the situation on the market for TV sets.
The chain consists of 126 outlets in Hungary, over 70% of which are located in under-40,000 population settlements where the large international chains are absent. The total retail area reaches 35,000 m² in Hungary, with store sizes ranging between 300-800 m ². The company employs altogether 850 people.
