Number of insolvencies up 57% in the Czech Republic

In 2009 the number of companies being declared insolvent in the Czech Republic increased by 57% and totalled 4,570, according to data from Creditinform, quoted by
Prague Monitor.
In Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), this figure amounted to 47,000, which represents a year-on-year increase of 40%. The situation in the Czech Republic is among the worst in the region – in terms of number of companies declared insolvent, the country had by far the highest of those CEE countries featured in the analysis.
