Slovaks did not give up branded goods
2010-04-20
Slovaks continue to buy branded goods despite the economic crisis that affected the country. This trend has been triggered by massive discount campaigns run by retailers in the past year or so. The share of branded products has thus increased to the detriment of private brands, according to GfK Slovakia survey
There are several categories of goods where preferences for brands are stronger than for others. One of them is dairy products, which Slovaks buy on average every other third day. Another category is represented by coffee and coffee specialities. Beer and mineral waters were also among the top ten products that sold more through branded products than private brands.
The survey canvassed a total of 1,000 respondents between 15 and 79 years of age during January 2010.
