Komfort, a purveyor of carpets and wall-to-wall floors, opened a franchise establishment in Swiecie on 26 June. This is the company’s 25th franchise store in Poland.
The development firm Makrum is planning to build a shopping gallery on the site of a former factory in Bydgoszcz. The complex, which will bear the Makrum name, will take up around 70,000 m² and will emerge on a 96,000 m² site. The project is due to be completed in 2013.
Tesco has commenced the construction of its largest distribution centre in Poland. The complex will appear in Gliwice, by the A4 and A1 motorways, and will have 57,000 m² of storage area. The centre will eventually employ 1,000 people.
The development firm Echo Investment intends to build a Galeria Nova shopping centre in Koszalin. The construction work is due to begin in 2011 and will last 18 months. The two-storey complex will have 34,000 m² of usable area and 820 parking places.
Between 30 June and 2 July, Rossmann, a cosmetics concern, opened stores in Wejherowo, Elblag and Oborniki. Others are scheduled for Warsaw and Zambrow, on 9 and 10 July respectively. The company intends to set up its 500th establishment in Poland in November 2010. At present, the chain consists of 460 stores, located in 215 Polish towns.
Kolastyna, the prominent cosmetics producer, has sold its Kolastyna brand to Sarantis Polska. The transaction is worth PLN 9.5m (€2.3m). The money raised from the sale will allow the company to reduce its debts. Kolastyna’s portfolio still contains brands such as Miraculum, Pani Walewska, Wars, Brutal, Lider, Tanita and Paloma.
About 85% of the Gemini Park retail park in Tarnow has been rented out. The 80,000 m² complex will house three large-format stores: Tesco, Castorama and Media Markt, along with 100 other stores and service points. It is due to open in August 2010.
In June 2010, 40 new stores were added to the Detal Polski retail chain. At present, the network contains 540 stores in Poland.
In July 2010, the popular Patron Tequila brand appeared on the Polish market. The company will offer three variants of the spirit: Patron Anejo, Patron Silver and Patron Reposado. The brand has been introduced to Poland by the CEDC.
