Romanian antitrust watchdog approves the takeover of Wella by Interbrands
2010-07-12
The Competition Council in Romania authorised the purchase of Wella Romania by Interbrands Marketing & Distributions after it found no breach of competition rules in the country, according to an official statement from the authority.
As Central Europe Retail Update reported on a previous occasion, at the beginning of this year, FMCG retailer Interbrands Marketing & Distributions took over the hair care producer and retailer Wella Romania from the consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) (see the news brief “P&G sells Wella Romania” in the Central Europe Retail Update issue from 7 April 2010 to find more details).
The Interbrands-Wella deal gives Interbrands control over the distribution of brands such as Wella, System Professional and Londa Professional in about 3,000 hair saloons across Romania. None of the parties disclosed the value of the transaction.
