The German bakery BackWerk granted its master-franchise in Romania to the company Trotter Consulting. Backwerk wants to open franchised bakeries in the main cities of the country including Ploiesti, Pitesti, Craiova, Brasov, Timisoara, Cluj and Constanta. The company is carrying out negotiations with potential partners in several cities.
The investment in the opening of a BackWerk bakery varies between €100,000-150,000. The first BackWerk discount self-serving bakery was opened at the beginning of July in the centre of Bucharest. The store registers daily sales of €700, VAT not included. The bakery wants to open two more outlets this year and expects monthly sales of €30,000 -40,000 for each of them. The master-franchise tax is 3% of the bakery’s sales revenues in Romania. Trotter Consulting is the operator of several restaurants in Bucharest such as the chain City Grill, Caru’ cu Bere and Hanu’ Berarilor. In 2009 the company posted a consolidated sales revenues of €12.4m.
