Imports of beef meat increased in Slovakia in Q1 2010

Beef meat imports into Slovakia reached a value of €4.2m in Q1 2010, which represents a growth of €55,000 compared to the same period last year. The value of the imported frozen beef meat increased by €152,500 over the period, but imports of fresh beef meat declined between Q1 2009 and Q1 2010 by some €102,000, according to the Agrarian Market Information centre in Slovakia (ATIS).
The imports of beef meat to Slovakia came principally from the Czech Republic, which accounted for over 47% of the imported beef meat, and from Poland, which was worth more than 27% of the beef meat imports.
