Increase in beer and snack sales in Hungarian Tesco hypermarkets
2010-07-21
Sales of beer, soft drinks, snack and popsicles increased in Tesco hypermarkets in the past month; the increase is said to be due to pleasant weather and the World Cup games. In June one and a half times as much beer and mineral water was sold in Tesco hypermarkets as in May. Over the period the chain offered increased selection of beer. Sales of soft drinks also increased by 20% in comparison to May.
The sale of certain food items also saw a change during this time. Snack sales increased by nearly 30%. Sales of the cold treat augmented by 40% during this time.
The electronics department also saw an increase in sales of certain items. TV sets’ sales soared and Tesco sold nearly two times as many television sets in June as it did in May.
