Milka ice cream expected to generate some €1.5m in Romania in 2010
2010-07-23
The ice cream manufacturer and distributor Kubo Ice Cream expects the Milka ice cream currently being sold on the Romanian market to generate some €1-1.5m in sales revenues, which is about 10-15% of the company’s revenues generated in 2009. The company does not expect its sales revenues to grow in 2010; instead, revenues will stagnate as a result of the economic downturn.
With sales of €10m in 2009 the company is one of the five largest players on the ice cream market in Romania. Kubo Ice Cream has recently taken over the distribution of Milka ice cream, entering into competition with Nestle, Unilever and Betty Ice. The company runs a factory in Piatra Neamt. The factory employed 228 people in 2009, according to the Trade Registry.
The Romanian ice cream market is estimated at some €120-140m a year.
