Bakalar brewery has reportedly been acquired by the Russian entrepreneur Andrej Brajlovsky, a co-owner of the Russian beer importer and distributor, the Russian Tradition Group. The amount paid for the asset was not made public.
The Bakalar brewery was reportedly heavily indebted. The company is estimated to produce 20,000 hl of beer this year. It is expected that investors will increase production volumes by at least 50% in order to increase export sales. Mr. Brajlovsky said in an earlier interview for Hospodarske Noviny that the Czech and German markets are in his area of interest.
The core activity of the Russian Tradition Group is the distribution of beer from the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands into Russia. It has been present on the Czech market for about 10 years, exporting into Russia such Czech beer brands as Cernovar, Prazecka, Bernard and Krusovice, which are sold in some 1,500 stores and five restaurants in Russia.
