The Slovak textile manufacturing industry sees signs of a slight recovery, and some companies have announced plans to hire additional staff, according to reports from textile manufacturers published by Hospodarske Noviny.
The Turzovka-based textile maker I.TRAN. is planning to hire a total of 10 people in August as a result of fresh orders for textile production. The company expects a mild increase in 2010 in its sales revenues compared to last year, when it pulled in sales worth €1.2m, down from €1.7m the year before. The company recently received orders for insulated clothing from the Russian railway company. I.TRAN. plans to expand its exports to include countries such as Kazakhstan and Libya.
Another manufacturer, Kuempers Textil Slovakia, has also improved its economic results. In the three quarters between October 2009 and June 2010, the company netted €40,000, up from the loss of €677,000 in the previous three-quarter period.
The mattress maker Bodet & Horst Mattress Ticking plans to hire a total of 150 new employees in the next year, which would bring the company’s staff up to 600 people.
