Her-Csi-Hus, the Hungarian white meat processor, has invested HUF 300m (€1m) in upgrading its poultry farm facilities in Mezofalva (Central Hungary). The company received HUF 150m (€538,000) in a grant from the European Agriculture and Rural Development Fund to finance this investment. As a result, the processing capacity of the farm has increased from 80,000 chickens to 180,000 chickens in one shift. The company has four poultry farms, located in Mezofalva, Szabadegyhaza, Hernad (Central Hungary) and Gyor (North-Western Hungary), where 3 million chickens are raised each year.
The company has a slaughter house and a meat processing plant in Hernad, where 10 million broiler chickens are processed and 6,000 tonnes of processed meat is produced annually.
The company has an approximately 10% market share in the Hungarian broiler chicken market in terms of value and is the main supplier of Spar and Metro supermarkets. It exports to Austria, the United Kingdom,Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
