Profit in the grocery market in Slovakia surged last year

grocery market in Slovakia, which encompasses manufacturers of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, netted some €196.2m in 2009, which was a growth of 33% compared to the previous year, according to a news release from the Ministry of Agriculture in Slovakia. The highest profit was registered by the meat processing and oil manufacturing sectors. In turn, the biggest improvement in profit was seen last year also by meat processing, cocoa, chocolate and sweets manufacturing, and dairies. On the other hand, the steepest declines in profit were registered in the sectors of flour, wine and alcohol production, according to the same source.
