KFC Romania increased its sales revenues in H1 2010

The fast-food restaurant chain KFC Romania saw its sales revenues increase by 12.8% year on year to RON 101.2m (€23.6m) in H1 2010, according to data from the company collected by Mediafax. The net profit increased by 3% in H1 2010 compared to H1 2009, but the company would not disclose any figures. In January-June 2010, KFC restaurants with the highest sales were those in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara.
KFC Romania plans to open two new restaurants in Buzau and Pitesti in the upcoming autumn and rise the total number of restaurants in Romania to 40. In 2010, KFC already opened two outlets in Bucharest.
In 2010 the company expects sales revenues of RON 162m (€37.8m), representing a year-on-year increase of 10%.
KFC entered Romania in 1997. Its restaurants are operated as franchises by US Food Network, company controlled by the Romanian businessman Puiu Popoviciu who also owns the Pizza Hut franchise.
