The largest online retailer in Romania, eMAG, is preparing to launch an online store for the Hungarian market. With this aim the company has opened a new Hungarian website.
The website displays promotions, offers online ordering and delivery services, although no products are available on the site yet.
It is not the company’s first foreign investment: eMAG opened their online shop in Bulgaria last year. The firm also announced the same move for the Ukrainian and Turkish markets in Q3 2013 and Q1 2014 respectively.
eMAG chiefly offers consumer electronics, IT and telecommunications products, which produce a lion’s share of the company’s sales. Last year, they posted €165m in Romania. According to eMAG CEO Iulian Stanciu, the company had a 70% market share of the e-commerce market in the country. Current projections envisage a growth of sales to €1bn by 2018.
