Hypermarket rEvolution: Poland goes compact - December 2005

According to the most recent PMR report, hypermarkets are the most dynamically developing contemporary distribution channel for groceries. The major force behind growth in this segment are so-called compact hypermarkets. Facing saturation and escalating competition, hypermarket operators in major Polish cities are moving away from the large-scale venues first seen in Poland over a decade ago. Thus, contrary to what many have predicted, the era of the hypermarket is not over: it is simply the beginning of the hypermarket revolution.
